MAKOTO
KARATE KLUB

Information about our club

The club was originally founded by primary school Hostivar in 2000 for kids. In the summer of 2011 was extended to adults and renamed  "Makoto Karate Club".

In our club we focus primarily on the traditional form of Karate Shotokan style. Sufficient time is devoted to warming up, the most important part of the exercise, including therapeutic exercises. These include a thorough workout across the spine, stretching meridians of lung and colon etc.

The basic exercise technique is kihon. Further study is developed from the classical canon of Shotokan kata (forms), a mastery of the basic Heian series especially for lower technical levels and gradual mastery of the kata. An integral part of training is kata bunkai (application). Part of the training course and exercise are various forms of kumite (sparring).

Our trainings are mostly not focused on sport karate forms even if they are physically demanding. The main goal is harmonious development  external and internal.

The training includes self care of physical health using reflexology, etc.

The club is a member of the Czech Karate Union and Prague Karate Union.

Our club consists of two parts - primary school kids and adults. The adult part is focused for ages 12 to 99, beginners and advanced.

The main recruitment is during September and October, but we can accept others during the rest of the year.
